Presented by Jason DufairWhen Purdue began developing a new peer review app, we wanted to take advantage of the modern web and offer the ability to review not just the written word, but any content type whatsoever: office documents, artwork, code, engineering drawings, you name it. We wanted to offer flexible scoring via rubrics. Most importantly, we wanted to make sure the tool improved learning outcomes. We had high hopes and dreams about a robust, fair, sensical, and usable app. In order to achieve that dream, we knew that the scoring mechanism needed to be fair. Come learn how we designed the beast of a scoring algorithm and implemented it in our app.

Architect/Full Stack DeveloperJason Dufair is a System Architect and Full Stack Developer at Purdue University. Dufair earned his Bachelor of Arts at Purdue and is currently pursuing his master's degree in computer science at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dufair is part of the Studio by Purdue group that is creating custom and cutting-edge teaching and learning technologies. At Purdue, he has the rewarding opportunity to lead development projects and work with amazing developers and designers. Dufair has also been helping mold young minds as an advisor for Purdue's EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) program. The team's work has been featured by the New York Times, USA Today, CNET, and The Chronicle of Higher Education; and has won awards from Wharton-QS Stars Awards 2014: Reimagine Education, Center for Digital Education, TechPoint Mira Technology Awards, and Campus Technology.
