Content Personalization: The Low-Hanging Fruit

Monday, Oct 14 9:30 - 10:15

Presented by Kat Liendgens

There’s no question that your current and prospective students are the most technically savvy cohort in history and that, as a result, your audience’s expectations of your website and other digital channels are much higher than they’ve ever been. In the age of Netflix, Amazon, and the Apple Watch, people simply expect a personalized experience everywhere – including on a higher ed website. Make no mistake: Higher education professionals will have no choice but to depart from their traditional digital shyness and start embracing content personalization.

Yes, this might sound a little daunting. After all, how do you develop a custom content strategy for each persona, let alone for specific individuals?

The good news is that there is plenty of low hanging fruit when it comes to delivering custom, targeted content to the right people at the right time. In her presentation, Kat Liendgens, will discuss how to make a case for personalization to your higher ups. The session will specifically focus on examples and use cases of both implicit and explicit personalization in order to show you how just a little customization can have a big impact and lead to more engagement, better conversion rates, and more applications. If you are new to personalization and need some help getting started, you will come away with ideas of small but effective steps to take to get your feet wet.
