Weather

Fall weather in Sacramento is spectacular! Plan on warm, 75 to 80-degree(F) days, and cooler, 50-degree nights — so, short sleeves or layers will probably be comfortable for most. There is a chance of rain on Wednesday, so don’t forget to pack a light jacket or umbrella! Keep an eye on the forecast for up-to-date information.

Attire

As you prep your suitcase for #heweb18, know that dress at the conference is business casual – with a strong emphasis on the “casual.” Jeans, tees, khakis and comfy kicks are common, too, both during the conference sessions and at evening events.

Remember, session rooms can be chilly, so you may want to throw in a sweater for daytime wear.

Build your schedule

The #heweb18 schedule is jam-packed with 100+ great sessions. Do you know what you’re going to attend? Use our online schedule planner to build your conference calendar:

  • Visit the schedule page on the laptop/phone/mobile device you plan to bring.
  • Select “Add to schedule” for each session you plan to attend. Depending on your device/browser, “Add to schedule” may be shown as a bookmark icon with a “+” inside.
  • Use the “Your schedule” link to toggle your selections to display. Your selections will be saved to your device and ready to go when you arrive!

Check-in and registration

Your first stop at HighEdWeb 2018 should be the registration desk on the third floor concourse of the Sacramento Convention Center. Check in to grab your conference badge, all the important info you need, and your conference gifts/swag.

Registration hours:

  • Sunday, Oct. 21: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 22: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

NOTE: For Annual Conference attendees registered for one of the Academies (Leadership, Content/UX, or Technical): Report to the Academies registration table on the third floor of the Sacramento Convention Center between 8 – 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, to check in to your Academy. You will also need to check in separately on Sunday or Monday at the main Conference registration desk for the HighEdWeb Annual Conference.

Lanyards/IDs

When you check in at the registration desk, you will receive your conference ID badge. Your ID badge must be worn at all presentation sessions, meals, and all conference after-hour events. Your badge is your golden ticket of admission to all the fun, as well as your Conference program and your source for lot of critical information — so be sure to keep it handy!

Workshops

Pre-conference workshops begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Sacramento Convention Center. Allow time on Sunday to check in at the registration desk before your workshop (note there are generally some short lines during this busy period). Lunch will be provided at noon on Sunday in the Convention Center for all pre-conference workshop attendees, HighEdWeb conference presenters, and Academy attendees.

Post-conference workshops begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the Sacramento Convention Center.

If you would like to add an available pre- or post-conference workshop to your conference experience, use the link in your registration email or add on and pay for the workshop at the registration desk.

Code of Conduct

The HighEdWeb community is awesome. And we want it to keep on being awesome for everyone. As we look forward to a great conference, we want to remind everyone of what we know you already know: HighEdWeb is dedicated to working toward a harassment-free community and conference experience for everyone, regardless of factors such as sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, culture, class, age, or faith. Read our full Code of Conduct policy: https://digicol.org/about/code-of-conduct/

Connect with us – official conference communication

We’ll be sharing news and updates at the conference a variety of ways. We’re excited to announce that HighEdWeb is on Slack, providing a new way for us to talk, share, and work together.

There are several #heweb18 channels where you can discuss conference happenings and network with other attendees. All members were sent an email earlier this week with details and a link to get started. Need help? Please contact the Membership Committee at membership@digicol.org.

Other official communication channels:

  • Follow us on Twitter at @HighEdWeb to stay up-to-date on announcements such as program changes, get general details, or ask any questions you may have.
  • Use the conference hashtag #heweb18 to follow discussions, add to the conversation and make new friends.
