Orientation Overhaul: Rethinking Study Abroad Online Orientation
Monday, Oct 14 10:15 - 11:30
Presented by Erin JorgensenIn September 2017, the University of Missouri International Center launched a new online orientation for study abroad. Emphasizing a text-first approach, the new version increased engagement with the content by nearly 40%. Built on a bootstrap framework, the new orientation converted seven voice-over-PowerPoint YouTube videos into a streamlined, interactive site that prioritizes accessibility, mobile-friendly design and ease of content edits. I’ll share our process, pitfalls along the way and how we ended up with a layered learning experience that can be customized by each participant.
