Nikki Massaro Kauffman

Nikki Massaro Kauffman is a unique combination of front-end developer, multimedia specialist, and educator. Nikki uses the web and educational technology to give learners of all backgrounds access to education. It is more than job to her; it is her calling. She has degrees in both computer science and in education and has been working in these fields since 1998.

Morten Rand-Hendriksen

Morten is a Senior Staff Instructor at LinkedIn Learning (nee Lynda.com) with 60+ courses published on web standards, design, UX, WordPress, and future technologies. He also teaches Interaction Design at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and contributes to WordPress core and community projects. Morten enjoys playing with his son, reading philosophy and sci-fi, having conversations about the internet and how it shapes our society, and wearing out his shoes on the ballroom dance floor.

Rachel Cherry

Rachel Cherry is a freelance software engineer and consultant with with over ten years experience in back and front-end web development and digital design. Her main areas of focus include accessibility, higher education, and WordPress.

Previously, Rachel was a Senior Software Engineer for Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media and helped build a variety of Disney websites on various platforms, including shopdisney.com.

When she’s not using WordPress to help build the web, she advocates for the importance of accessibility and works to encourage collaboration and professional development as a conference and meet-up organizer. Rachel lives in Pasadena, California but you can find her on Twitter, GitHub, and bamadesigner.com.

Philip Zastrow

Harboring a powerful need to push pixels and punch code, Philip Zastrow is a designer and developer who needs a healthy mixture of both. At Sparkbox, Philip’s title may be frontend designer, but around the office he is known as the Sassmaster. That term isn’t because of sarcastic wit; rather, it’s for Philip’s depth of knowledge and love for all things CSS. Philip loves tinkering with new concepts and discovering unique solutions, all while dancing at his standing desk.

Catherine Meade

Catherine is currently a web developer at Sparkbox, a commercial web shop in Southwest Ohio, building responsive websites up and down the stack, focusing recently on a single enterprise level design system. She has a BSA from Miami University in Art Education. While Catherine no longer teaches high school, her strong passion for education has never left; she spends a good amount of time volunteering with Girl Develop It Dayton, sitting on the leadership team and teaching code classes. Her other hobbies include reading, video games, tabletop games, drawing and making cat jokes. Twitter (and all the other things) as @catheraaine.

Dave Olsen

Dave Olsen is a PHP developer focused on delivering mobile content and services using the mobile web. He has developed and currently maintains several open source projects:

  • Detector, a JS/PHP server-side feature-detection library
  • Throttle, a node.js-based utility for throttling network speed to test mobile sites
  • PHP library of ua-parser

Dave has experience in managing and deploying complex projects in a large enterprise setting including a content management system that powers several hundred websites. He’s also been involved in developing and implementing social media strategies using Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and text messaging.
